As the keynote event of the "Playright Children's Play Association (賽馬會智樂好玩社區同盟) ," the "Collaborative Creation of Playful Communities Seminar (同心共創好玩社區研討會 )" was successfully held on Wednesday, October 11, 2023, in Quarry Bay. HALF’s Chairman and Co-funder Prof. Mo Moderated in the 8th Golden Age Expo and Summit (2023) Organised by Golden Age Foundation

The intergenerational Living Communities seminar, organized by the Golden Age Foundation, took place in August 2023. Professor Mo was invited to facilitate the seminar. The main focus of the seminar was addressing the desire of most seniors to age in place and within their communities. The central question discussed during the seminar was how to develop communities that promote life satisfaction, a positive quality of life, and self-esteem for individuals of all ages.

The concept of smart ageing was highlighted, advocating for inclusive and supportive communities that cater to the needs of people across different age groups. The seminar aimed to explore the construction of intergenerational communities from various perspectives, including planning, architectural design, and interior design.

Innovation Seminar 2023 – Re-Imagining Age-friendly Living Environments in Hong Kong

Innovation Seminar 2023 – Re-Imagining Age-friendly Living Environments in Hong Kong

According to the 2021 Census, there are about 1.45 million elderly people aged 65 and above in Hong Kong, accounting for about 20% of the city’s total population. In the face of an aging population, the elderly’s living quality has become a major concern of the community. Physical living environments and supporting services are key to the physical and mental health of older adults. Therefore, improving the built environment and services for the elderly is a crucial element in promoting ageing in place. An age-friendly living environment requires suitable built environments and services to meet the needs of the elderly with varying abilities.

Thanks to the support of our Incubators - ZeShan Foundation and Ho Cheung Shuk Yuen Charitable Foundation, together with the School of Architecture of the Chinese University of Hong Kong and CUHK Jockey Club Institute of Ageing, Happy Ageing Lab is going to organise an interdisciplinary innovation seminar. We hope to explore ways to cultivate an age-friendly living environment with people from the built environment, elderly services and social innovation sectors through the seminar.

The seminar will be divided into two sessions with themes of built environment and elderly services respectively. Each seminar features a keynote presentation and panel discussion, Q&A sessions and interactive activities. We welcome people from different sectors to participate and exchange ideas with each other.

Our City . Our Home @Urban Design Lab

In collaboration with Hong Kong Arts Centre, Via North Point (formerly known as "Project Hap Sap") is launching an online exhibition ‘Our City . Our Home @Urban Design Lab’ that offers an experimental study of the neighborhood of Chun Yeung Street in North Point as a part of the Via North Point project. Based on the empathic understanding of the community, lab members envisioned an alternative quality of urban living through a series of co-design workshops. The design ideas represented are a reflection on the design aspirations for the public space, which also aims to evoke thinking and discussion about the meaning and usage of public space. We welcome you to immerse into this legendary journey at Chun Yeung Street and share your thoughts with us.

Social Innovation Networking: Silver hair and us – Life hack during the ‘Isolation’

In recent years, the World Trade Organization has placed great importance on the concept of creating an "Aging and Elderly Friendly City." This concept aims to foster intergenerational harmony by incorporating the perspectives of the elderly, encouraging their active participation, and creating an environment suitable for their needs.

Within the realm of Social Innovation Networking, Impact Incubator organized a session where three experts from the social welfare sector were invited to share their valuable experiences in innovation and project incubation.
